Prairie Days

Experience native wildflowers in bloom at this celebration of one of Washington’s rarest and most endangered ecosystems found at the heart of Whidbey Island. Purchase native plants for your own garden on Friday from 10 to 4, Saturday from 10 to 6, or Sunday from 1 to 6. Take free guided tours on Saturday at 7:30 AM with PRI Board Chair Joe Sheldon, 10 AM with Ioana Popescu, 2 PM with Adam Martin, or 4 PM with PRI's Land Steward Mosa Neis, or on Sunday at 2 PM with PRI Board Member Jim Peskuric or 4 PM with PRI volunteer Gary Piazzon. On Saturday learn more about “Natives, Invasives, and Foraging” in an educational talk by PRI Board Member Dr. Ioana Popescu at 12 or learn more about the “Taylor’s Checkerspot Butterfly” by Adam Martin from Ecostudies Institute at 2 PM. Weather permitting, join us at 9 PM on Saturday for stargazing or a bonfire. This is a free event, open to the public, to encourage the community to learn about a rare ecosystem.
