This region is home to some quality fishing choices year-round: Lake Wenatchee, Fish Lake, the Wenatchee River and the Icicle River. Depending on the season and where you're fishing, you could catch steelhead, sockeye salmon, rainbow and brown trout and perch. Ice Fishing is hugely popular during winter on Fish Lake in winter, sometimes as late as April. Important Note: check the rules for fishing in the Icicle and Wenatchee Rivers.
The kids (under the age of 15) will love that Leavenworth actually has its own kids-only fishing pond within walking distance of downtown--Blackbird Island Pond. Its season opens July 1 and closes September 30. This pond is also utilized as a juvenile Steelhead rearing and acclimation site.
