Have you heard the phrase, “Power up and rise to the challenge?” Athletes know that one way to develop and heighten their performance is to compete against someone with greater experience, someone who will test their resolve to be the best. As in life, we all enter a playing field in one form or fashion, be it for work, for leisure past times between teammates, or simply as we set goals for ourselves.
For those traveling on the Loop this week, take time to stop in Mukilteo. If you pre-sign up, you can participate in a fun, local competition.
The Amazing Race Mukilteo provides a series of challenges including physical, mental, and creative contests for 28 two-person teams. In the first part of each challenge, teams figure out the clue before traveling to the challenge site, complete the challenge, before repeating the process to move to the next location.
Teams are already signing up through social media and the Chamber’s website. For $50, teams are entered into Amazing Race Mukilteo, receive t-shirts at the event, and bites and beverages at Diamond Knot Taproom following the race. Contestants must be 16 years of age or older (with a signed release from a parent/guardian if under 18). Interested persons may sign up on the Chamber’s website: www.mukilteochamber.org/amazingrace or on their social media platforms.
The start point for the race will be Kamiak High School parking lot (follow the signs) and will end at Diamond Knot Tap Room on Chennault Beach Road. Cars may be used between locations.
There will be a “non-stop timing format” for the teams participating in the contest. This year the clock starts at 9:00 am from Kamiak High School parking lot, and teams will “clock out” at Diamond Knot Tap Room. At times, there will be wait lines at challenge locations, and it is a first come-first served format. Waiting WILL be included in a team’s time. It’s all part of the challenge. Even so, contestants are charged with maintaining proper rules of the road and staying within legal driving guidelines.
The Amazing Race Mukilteo is a great event and a fun way to spend a Saturday morning. Teams have a chance for cash prizes and other fun gifts. Sign-ups are underway and slots are quickly filling up so early registration is recommended.
